Alpha Bug Swat Flashcards: Phonics for Kids Who Can't Sit Still

Your Kids Need PE. Here's Exactly Where To Start!

If your preschooler learns best when they're moving, this one's for them.

Alpha Bug Swat is a phonics flashcard game that turns letter sound practice into a full-body activity. Kids hunt for colorful bug cards hidden around the house, listen for the sound each bug makes, and then swat the right one with a fly swatter. It's active, it's fun, and it actually works.

The set covers all 26 letters plus 6 common sound pairs: sh, ee, th, ow, ou, and oo. Each card shows a bug with a letter on the front and all the sounds that letter makes on the back. The letter "a," for example, covers /a/ as in cat, /ā/ as in cake, and /ah/ as in want. Teaching all the sounds from the start gives kids a much stronger foundation for reading and spelling than the one-sound-per-letter approach most tools use.

There are five built-in game variations to keep the same set fresh across many sessions, and it prints in full color or black-and-white to save on ink.

This set is normally $2 in the HQ shop, but Homeschool Quest readers can grab it for FREE using coupon code HQREADER at checkout. (Expires July 31st, 2026)
