"First I ask how it feels to have accomplished something so incredible- so I praise their intrinsic efforts into the process. Then? Movie night and they pick the movie and snacks, game night where they pick the game, activity and they choose the activity, sometimes I will surprise them with a toy they had wanted, sometimes it’s a special time alone with mom- often I ask them what they would like to do to celebrate, and they usually come up with something as simple as, “Can we have ice cream at the park?” Or “Can we go on a picnic?” Or “Can we spend the day at (insert a field trip sort of thing)?” Win!"

"Take a picture and send to dad and each grandparent, possibly post on FB with a proud mama moment post. My 11 yr old still loves to see how many people "liked" or "loved" his pictures or commentend nice things."

"When something happens I make sure to tell her how proud I am at her hard work. Text Dad if he's at work and show her his response. We have punch cards as a reward system so if it's something that we agreed earns a punch or if it's something extra that deserves a punch, I'll have her pick the shape and punch her card. She's 13 but she lights up so much with just knowing we are proud of her."
